An Interview with Sohaib
Hi Sohaib, firstly i would like to thank you for finding the time
to take part in this interview. For the benefit of our visitors, would you please
introduce yourself?
Hello Terry, my name is Sohaib Thiab, i am the founder of premiushosting.com
and talkhomebusiness.com, hopefully you will enjoy reading this Interview and
learn some new information.
What are your thoughts on Search Engine Optimization?
Search Engine Optimization or SEO has become a necessity in all websites for
the past 3 to 4 years, the more the Internet grows, the more the need for SEO
grows. I like to think of SEO as an art, the art of ranking a website on the
major search engines for the keywords the customer/webmaster wants.
How did you learn about SEO, and why did you choose to do it yourself
rather than hire an SEO company?
Well Terry, i started learning about SEO when one of my old websites didn't
get allot of traffic, advertising was not an option at that time with my limited
budget, so i started searching on the Internet for ways to promote my website,
and that's how i learned about SEO, the reason why i learned doing it myself
was the same reason why i didn't advertise my old website, hiring an expert
in SEO costs money, allot of money usually, so i had no other alternative but
to learn it myself.
What advice would you give someone who is just starting out with SEO?
Read, read and read, hang out on SEO related forums and read what the experts
have to say. I learned allot of important aspects in SEO from forums. It's a
good idea to download some free e-books about SEO as well, start with the basics
and make your way to the top.
SEO requires monitoring, how did you monitor your progress in terms
of what was working and what wasn't?
Excellent question Terry, SEO does need monitoring, and allot of monitoring
actually. I use a number of tools that are free and available on the Internet.
Of course, when optimizing a web site you will be targeting specific keywords,
you can check how well the website is doing by searching for those keywords/key
phrases, i also use some other tools that don't come free usually to check keyword
popularity and backlinks etc.

anything else you would like to add?
Yes, SEO needs time and patience due to the nature that search engines work
with, results take time to appear and they can be frustrating at times but never
let that bring you down or make you stop. Keep learning and finding out what
went wrong, post what happened on SEO forums, lots of experts will be willing
to give you advice, fix what went wrong and you will get results at the end.
